Anagrelide falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Holy Basil interacts with.

Theoretically, holy basil seed oil might increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Animal research shows that holy basil seed oil can prolong bleeding time, possibly due to inhibition of platelet aggregation. However, it is not known if this occurs in humans.

Here's the gist for anagrelide (Agrylin): it lowers your platelet count, so it already nudges your blood toward bleeding more easily. Holy basil seed oil may add to that. In animal studies, it slowed platelets from clumping together and made bleeding take longer. Stack that on top of anagrelide and, in theory, you could bruise more easily or bleed a little longer than usual.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is. This concern comes only from lab and animal research, and we don't know if it happens in people. Still, since you're already on a platelet-lowering drug, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding tulsi, and watch for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that won't stop.

What Is Anagrelide Used For?

Brand name: Agrylin

Anagrelide — sold as Agrylin and as generic anagrelide capsules — is used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms. That means it's prescribed when a bone marrow disorder causes the body to produce too many platelets, raising the risk of dangerous blood clots.

By bringing platelet counts down to a safer range, anagrelide also helps reduce related symptoms, including bleeding and clotting events (thrombo-hemorrhagic events).
