Here's the thing about reteplase (Retevase): it's a powerful clot-busting drug given through an IV in a hospital, usually during a heart attack to quickly dissolve a dangerous clot. Because it actively breaks down clots, bleeding is already its main risk.

Horse chestnut contains a compound called esculin that might act a little like a blood thinner by slowing how platelets clump together. In theory, stacking that on top of reteplase could nudge your bleeding risk a bit higher, showing up as easy bruising, nosebleeds, or oozing at IV sites. But I want to be honest: this is a theoretical concern based on lab work, not something proven in people. Since reteplase is only used in emergency settings, your care team is already watching closely. Still, mention any supplements to them.
