CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Clonazepam
Clonazepam falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Jamaican Dogwood interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Clonazepam already calms the brain and slows things down. That's how it stops seizures and quiets panic attacks. The concern here is simple overlap: Jamaican dogwood is traditionally used to make people sleepy and relaxed, so stacking it on top of clonazepam could deepen that effect. You might feel more drowsy, foggy, or unsteady than usual, and in larger amounts that sedation could become a real safety issue.
I want to be honest that this caution comes from how these things work on paper and in lab and animal studies, not from solid human research. So it's a sensible watch out, not a proven danger. Please don't change your clonazepam, and chat with your pharmacist or doctor before trying Jamaican dogwood at all.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clonazepam page
“Clonazepam (Klonopin) slows brain activity to control seizures and panic, and most of what interacts with it pushes in one of two directions: deepening that sedation or changing how much drug is in your blood. This is a list to approach carefully.”

Natural Medicines records Clonazepam as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Jamaican Dogwood — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
