Kinetin and Acetaminophen, Aspirin, Caffeine

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Moderate

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS

Why this applies to Acetaminophen, Aspirin, Caffeine

Acetaminophen, Aspirin, Caffeine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Kinetin interacts with.

In vitro research suggests that kinetin inhibits human platelet aggregation and activation. Also, evidence from animal research suggests that kinetin prolongs bleeding time. Theoretically, kinetin might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

The piece of this combination that matters here is the aspirin. Aspirin already thins the blood a bit by keeping platelets from clumping together. In lab and animal studies, kinetin seems to do something similar, slowing platelet activity and lengthening bleeding time. Stacked on top of aspirin, the concern is a small added nudge toward easier bleeding, like more bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums.

Now, the honest part: this evidence comes only from test-tube and animal research, so it's theoretical for people. Most kinetin is used in skin creams, not swallowed, and topical use is very unlikely to affect your bleeding. If you're taking an oral kinetin product along with regular aspirin, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

What These Ratings Mean

Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.

Severity how clinically significant the interaction is
Major

Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.

  • LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
  • ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
  • PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
  • UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

About Kinetin

What is Kinetin?

  • Anti-aging skincare
  • Skin smoothing and texture
  • Reducing skin dryness and roughness
  • Evening skin tone
  • Cosmetic moisturizing

Kinetin is a plant growth hormone (a cytokinin) used mainly in topical anti-aging and skincare products, not as an oral dietary supplement. Early laboratory research and small studies suggest it may help skin texture and hydration, but high-quality human evidence is limited. If you want to try it, use it as a cosmetic skin product and check with a pharmacist or dermatologist, especially if you have sensitive skin.
