Insulin determir falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Kousso interacts with.

Theoretically, kousso might have an additive effect with antidiabetes drugs and cause hypoglycemia. Animal research shows that kousso flower extract modestly decreases blood glucose levels in diabetic mice.
Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, metformin (Glucophage), pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the gist with Levemir (insulin detemir) and kousso. Levemir's whole job is to lower your blood sugar over a long stretch of the day. In some animal studies, kousso flower extract also nudged blood sugar down a bit. So in theory, stacking the two could push your sugar lower than you intend, raising the chance of a low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) episode (shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, a fast heartbeat).

I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical, based only on mouse research, not human studies, so the real-world risk is uncertain. Kousso itself can also be pretty harsh on the body. Please don't change your insulin dose on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep a close eye on your numbers if you ever combine them.

What is Kousso?

Levemir (insulin detemir) is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and children with type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes. It is a basal insulin, meaning it works around the clock to keep background blood sugar levels steady.

Levemir is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous buildup of acids in the blood that requires a different type of insulin).
