Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Erythromycin Stearate
Erythromycin Stearate falls under ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS — the group Lactobacillus Gasseri interacts with.
Lactobacillus gasseri preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. gasseri preparations by at least two hours.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: erythromycin is an antibiotic, and its whole job is to kill or stop the growth of bacteria. The catch is that Lactobacillus gasseri is itself a live, friendly bacterium. So if you swallow them at the same time, the antibiotic can wipe out a good chunk of those probiotic organisms before they ever get to work. In other words, this interaction works against the probiotic, not against your erythromycin. Your antibiotic will still do its job fighting the infection.
The good news is this is easy to manage. Just space them out by at least two hours, and you'll get more value from the probiotic. This advice is based on how these products behave (theory and common sense) rather than hard human studies, so don't worry. As always, run any new supplement by your pharmacist or doctor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Erythromycin Stearate page
“Erythromycin stearate (Erythrocin, Ethril) is an antibiotic that asks for real vigilance around supplements. It blocks the body's main drug-clearing enzyme, so the largest share of this list is herbs whose blood levels can climb while you take it.”

About Lactobacillus Gasseri
What is Lactobacillus Gasseri?
- Digestive health
- Weight and belly fat management
- Vaginal and urinary health
- Bloating and gut discomfort
- General immune support
Lactobacillus gasseri is a 'friendly' probiotic bacterium found naturally in the human gut, mouth, and vaginal tract, and in some fermented foods. Early research suggests it may help with digestion, weight management, and vaginal health, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. It is generally well tolerated in healthy people, but anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding, or has a weakened immune system should talk to a pharmacist or doctor first.
About Erythromycin
What Is Erythromycin Used For?
Brand names: Erythro-S, Erythrocin, Ethril
Erythromycin treats bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. Oral and intravenous forms are used for upper and lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft-tissue infections, pertussis (whooping cough), Legionnaires' disease, sexually transmitted infections (gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia), listeriosis, and other conditions. Erythrocin Lactobionate IV and erythromycin lactobionate injection are specifically for patients who cannot take oral medication or who need rapid, high blood levels due to severe infection — IV therapy should be switched to oral as soon as appropriate.
Erythromycin topical solution 2% and Ery 2% Pads (swabs) are indicated only for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris (acne) and are applied directly to the skin — they are not used for internal infections.
