Immunosuppressant drugs include azathioprine (Imuran), basiliximab (Simulect), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), daclizumab (Zenapax), muromonab-CD3 (OKT3, Orthoclone OKT3), mycophenolate (CellCept), tacrolimus (FK506, Prograf), sirolimus (Rapamune), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), corticosteroids (glucocorticoids), and other drugs.

Here's the basic idea with this pairing. Rituximab (Rixuan) works by quieting down part of your immune system, whether that's to treat lymphoma, leukemia, or to calm an overactive immune attack in rheumatoid arthritis. Larch arabinogalactan, on the other hand, is a prebiotic fiber that some researchers think may gently stimulate certain immune activity. So in theory, the supplement could push in the opposite direction from what your rituximab is trying to do.

I want to be honest about how soft this concern is. It's based on how these things work on paper, not on real patient cases, so we don't know if it actually matters in practice. Still, because rituximab is serious therapy, I'd loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before adding this supplement rather than guessing on your own.

What Is Rituximab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Rituxan

Rituximab is used to treat a range of blood cancers and immune-driven diseases. In cancer care, it targets certain types of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL) and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) — both in adults and, for some lymphomas, in children as young as 6 months old.

Beyond cancer, rituximab is also approved for moderately-to-severely active Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in adults who haven't responded well to other treatments, as well as for two rare inflammatory blood vessel diseases — Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA) and Microscopic Polyangiitis (MPA) — and for a serious skin blistering condition called Pemphigus Vulgaris (PV).
