Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
BENZODIAZEPINES
Why this applies to Clobazam
Clobazam falls under BENZODIAZEPINES — the group Lemon Verbena interacts with.
Animal research shows that lemon verbena has additive sedative effects in mice that also received diazepam.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: clobazam already calms down overactive electrical activity in the brain, which is exactly how it controls seizures. Lemon verbena seems to have a mild calming effect of its own. The worry is that the two could add together and leave you more sedated than expected, with things like extra drowsiness, dizziness, slowed thinking, or in a worst case, slower breathing.
I want to be honest about the evidence though. This concern comes from a lab study in mice given a related benzodiazepine (diazepam), not from people taking clobazam. So it's a theoretical caution rather than something well documented. A cup of lemon verbena tea now and then is unlikely to be a problem, but concentrated supplements are a different story. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding one.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clobazam page
“Clobazam (Onfi, Sympazan, Frisium) is a benzodiazepine for seizures, so extra sedation is a real safety hazard rather than a nuisance, and that is what most of this list adds. The great majority of these supplements and herbs deepen drowsiness, alcohol in any form among the most serious pairings.”

About Lemon Verbena
What is Lemon Verbena?
- Digestive upset
- Anxiety and trouble sleeping
- Joint pain and inflammation
- Exercise recovery and oxidative stress
- Weight management
- Flavoring and aromatherapy
Lemon verbena is a fragrant South American herb most often enjoyed as a tea or flavoring, and it contains polyphenols like verbascoside that have antioxidant activity in lab studies. Some small studies hint at benefits for inflammation, exercise recovery, and appetite, but the human evidence is limited and far from proven. It is generally well tolerated as a food and tea, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
