Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Almotriptan
Almotriptan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lime interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version: your body partly clears almotriptan using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lime contains plant compounds that, in animal studies, slowed that same enzyme down. If that happened in people, almotriptan could hang around a bit longer and feel a little stronger, which might mean more of its usual effects like tingling, flushing, a tight or heavy feeling in the chest or throat, sleepiness, or mild dizziness.
Now the reassuring part: this finding comes from rats given high doses of lime juice, not from human studies. A normal squeeze of lime in your food or drink is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you're using concentrated lime products, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

This page covers Lime only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Almotriptan page lists 154 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Grapefruit (major), Lithium (major), St. John's Wort (major) and 5-htp (moderate).
By severity: 4 major · 108 moderate · 42 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Almotriptan page
“St. John's wort sits at the top of my worry list for anyone taking almotriptan (Axert, Almogran) for migraines, because it revs up the CYP3A4 enzyme that clears the drug, which can leave you with less relief when the headache hits.”

About Lime
What is Lime?
- Source of vitamin C
- Digestive upset
- Skin care
- Mood and aromatherapy
- Flavoring and food preservation
Lime is a common citrus fruit and a good natural source of vitamin C and plant antioxidants. As a food it is generally safe and enjoyed by most people, but evidence that lime treats any specific health condition is limited. Use the essential oil with care, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated lime products for health reasons.
About Almotriptan
What Is Almotriptan Used For?
Brand names: Axert, Almogran
Almotriptan tablets are used to treat migraine headache attacks — with or without aura — as they happen. They are not for preventing migraines before they start.
In adults, almotriptan tablets treat acute migraine attacks. In adolescents ages 12 to 17, almotriptan tablets treat acute migraine headache pain in those who typically have attacks lasting 4 hours or more when untreated. Note that in adolescents, the effect on migraine-related symptoms such as nausea and light sensitivity was not established in clinical trials. Almotriptan is not indicated for cluster headache or for hemiplegic or basilar migraine.
