Here's the thing to know about this one: it has nothing to do with how your blood sugar pills work. Your glipizide and metformin combo isn't changed, sped up, or slowed down by lime. Instead, this is about your skin. Lime oil contains compounds that can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, and a few medicines (this combo is grouped with them) may do the same. Put together, you could in theory sunburn more easily or get a rash on sun-exposed skin.

That said, this is purely theoretical, based only on lab studies, not on real patients. Squeezing lime in your food or drink is very unlikely to cause any problem. The bigger concern is concentrated lime essential oil rubbed on skin before sun exposure. If you use lime oil topically, mention it to your pharmacist.
