Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Ibrutinib
Ibrutinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Lime interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for ibrutinib (Imbruvica): your liver clears it using an enzyme called CYP3A4. Some lab and animal studies suggest that compounds in lime juice can slow that enzyme down. If that happens in people, ibrutinib could clear more slowly and build up in your blood, which may mean stronger effects and a higher chance of side effects like bruising, bleeding, diarrhea, infections, or an irregular heartbeat.
The good news is that the evidence here is weak. It comes from rats given large amounts of lime juice, not from people. A squeeze of lime on your food is unlikely to be a problem. Concentrated lime products are a different story. Since ibrutinib is a serious cancer medicine, please run any lime supplements past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ibrutinib page
“Ibrutinib (Imbruvica) treats blood cancers such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and because the drug itself makes bruising and bleeding more likely, adding the wrong supplement here can carry real consequences. Most of the entries below have blood-thinning or antiplatelet activity that stacks on top of that built-in bleeding risk.”

About Lime
What is Lime?
- Source of vitamin C
- Digestive upset
- Skin care
- Mood and aromatherapy
- Flavoring and food preservation
Lime is a common citrus fruit and a good natural source of vitamin C and plant antioxidants. As a food it is generally safe and enjoyed by most people, but evidence that lime treats any specific health condition is limited. Use the essential oil with care, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated lime products for health reasons.
About Ibrutinib
What Is Ibrutinib Used For?
Brand name: Imbruvica
Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is used in adults to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), including cases with a specific genetic change called 17p deletion. It is also used in adults to treat Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare type of slow-growing blood cancer.
Imbruvica is also approved for adults and children aged 1 year and older with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) — a serious immune complication that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant — when at least one prior treatment has not worked.
