Male Fern + Meloxicam
Meloxicam brand names: Mobic, Vivlodex, Qmiiz ODT, Anjeso.
We found no known interaction between Male Fern and Meloxicam in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Male Fern and Meloxicam
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Meloxicam and Male Fern in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Male Fern at all — not against Meloxicam, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Questions About Male Fern or Meloxicam
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Male Fern or Meloxicam, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:
- Is Creatine Safe To Take With Meloxicam Or Other NSAIDs? ›
- Can You Take Aleve and Tylenol Together? ›
- Is Mobic (Meloxicam) Safe With Tylenol? ›
Not quite your question? Ask our pharmacists directly — it is free, there is no account required, and answers usually come back within 24 hours.
See Every Supplement That Interacts With Meloxicam
This page covers Male Fern only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Meloxicam page lists 113 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Asarabacca (major), Beer (major), Siberian Cocklebur (major) and Wine (major).
By severity: 5 major · 81 moderate · 27 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Meloxicam page
“Most people take meloxicam (Mobic) daily for arthritis pain, which gives supplement interactions time to add up, so I read this list with real vigilance. Five of the 113 ingredients on file carry a major rating, and two are simply beer and wine, because alcohol plus any NSAID raises the odds of stomach bleeding.”

- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Male Fern
What is Male Fern?
- Intestinal worms (especially tapeworm)
- Traditional deworming remedy
- Folk wound care
Male fern is an old herbal remedy that was once used as a powerful treatment to expel tapeworms. It is now considered outdated and potentially dangerous because of its narrow safety margin and risk of serious poisoning, and safer modern medicines have replaced it. It should not be used for self-treatment.
Dryopteris filix-mas · Dryopteridaceae · Rhizome (underground stem) and root · Liquid extract (oleoresin), capsules, and historically a crude root powder
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Male Fern is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Male Fern record says about it on its own.
Male Fern: dosing
There is no safe, established self-care dose for male fern, and it is not recommended for home use. In the past it was given by medical professionals in carefully measured amounts under supervision, precisely because the line between an effective and a toxic dose is so thin.If you ever encounter a product containing male fern, do not guess at a dose.

About Meloxicam
What Is Meloxicam Used For?
Brand names: Mobic, Vivlodex, Qmiiz ODT, Anjeso
Meloxicam tablets and oral suspension treat osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). Meloxicam capsules (including Vivlodex) are indicated specifically for osteoarthritis pain management. Meloxicam oral suspension and Zybic oral suspension are approved for JRA in patients 2 years of age and older, while meloxicam tablets are approved for JRA in patients weighing at least 60 kg.
Anjeso and Qamzova (intravenous injections) are approved for adults only, for management of moderate-to-severe pain — alone or combined with non-NSAID pain relievers. Xifyrm (intravenous injection) is also approved for moderate-to-severe pain management in adults. These IV products are not intended when rapid pain relief is needed, as they have a delayed onset of action.

Meloxicam Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Meloxicam as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Male Fern — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
