Animal research suggests that high doses of Manchurian thorn can induce liver damage. Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.

Here's the concern with pairing Manchurian Thorn and Macitentan (Opsumit). Macitentan can already put some strain on the liver, which is why people taking it usually get periodic liver blood tests. The worry is about adding a second thing that may also stress the liver, not about one drug speeding up or slowing down the other.

This caution comes only from animal studies using high doses of the supplement, so it's theoretical and not proven in people. Still, doubling up on potential liver stress isn't worth the risk. Watch for warning signs like yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, unusual tiredness, or belly pain on the right side. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining these, rather than changing anything on your own.

What Is Macitentan Used For?

Brand name: Opsumit

Macitentan tablets — sold under the brand name Opsumit — are used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH, WHO Group I), a serious condition where the blood pressure in the arteries supplying the lungs is abnormally high. The goal is to slow down how quickly the disease gets worse and to lower the chances of being hospitalized because of it.

In clinical studies, it was shown to be effective in adults with mostly moderate-to-severe PAH symptoms. Patients in those studies had PAH caused by unknown or inherited reasons, connective tissue disorders, or congenital heart disease with repaired heart shunts.
