Dalteparin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Maral Root interacts with.

In vitro research shows that maral root tincture can reduce platelet aggregation. Theoretically, maral root might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Dalteparin (Fragmin) is an injectable blood thinner that lowers your blood's ability to clot. Maral Root is interesting here because lab studies (done in test tubes, not in people) suggest it may make platelets a little less sticky. Platelets are the cells that help form clots. So in theory, layering Maral Root on top of dalteparin could nudge your bleeding risk a bit higher.

What might that look like? Easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop. I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical and based only on lab work, so it may not amount to much in real life. Still, since dalteparin already thins your blood, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Maral Root.

Maral Root (Rhaponticum carthamoides) is a Siberian herb used as an 'adaptogen' and is popular among athletes for stamina and muscle building, largely because it contains plant compounds called ecdysteroids. Human evidence is very limited, so its benefits remain mostly unproven. Talk with a pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a health condition.

About Dalteparin Injection

What Is Dalteparin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Fragmin

Fragmin (dalteparin) injection is used to prevent blood clots (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT) in people having hip replacement or abdominal surgery, and in hospitalized patients who are largely immobile due to acute illness. It is also used to reduce ischemic complications — meaning clot-related events — in people with unstable angina or a type of heart attack called non-Q-wave MI, when given alongside aspirin.

Fragmin is approved for the extended treatment of symptomatic venous thromboembolism (VTE — blood clots in the veins or lungs) in adults with cancer, to reduce the chance of clots coming back, for up to six months. It is also approved to treat symptomatic VTE in pediatric patients from birth (at least 35 weeks gestational age) onward. Fragmin is not intended for the acute (immediate emergency) treatment of VTE.
