Fondaparinux falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Maral Root interacts with.

In vitro research shows that maral root tincture can reduce platelet aggregation. Theoretically, maral root might increase the risk of bleeding when used concomitantly with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the situation with Maral Root and fondaparinux (Arixtra). Fondaparinux is already a powerful blood thinner that you get by injection to prevent or treat clots. In lab dish studies, Maral Root seems to make platelets (the cells that help blood clot) a little less sticky. So in theory, layering it on top of fondaparinux could add to the blood-thinning effect and raise your bleeding risk.

What that could look like in real life: easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or bleeding that takes longer to stop. I'll be honest, this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube work, not proven in people. Still, since fondaparinux is serious medicine, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two rather than guessing.

Maral Root (Rhaponticum carthamoides) is a Siberian herb used as an 'adaptogen' and is popular among athletes for stamina and muscle building, largely because it contains plant compounds called ecdysteroids. About Fondaparinux Injection

What Is Fondaparinux Injection Used For?

Brand name: Arixtra

Fondaparinux sodium injection is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) — blood clots that form in the legs — in adults who are having hip fracture surgery, hip replacement surgery, knee replacement surgery, or abdominal surgery. Preventing these clots also lowers the risk of a clot traveling to the lungs (pulmonary embolism, or PE).

It is also used to treat acute DVT and acute pulmonary embolism in adults, typically started alongside warfarin. In children aged 1 year and older who weigh at least 10 kg (about 22 lbs), fondaparinux sodium injection is approved to treat venous thromboembolism (VTE) — blood clots in the veins.
