ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibuprofen, Oxycodone
Ibuprofen, Oxycodone falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Maritime Pine interacts with.
Clinical research suggests that maritime pine bark extract inhibits platelet aggregation. However, the clinical significance of this effect is unclear.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Combunox combines ibuprofen with oxycodone. The piece that matters here is the ibuprofen, since that's a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) that already makes your platelets a little less sticky and can irritate the stomach lining. Maritime pine bark (Pycnogenol) appears in lab work to do something similar, gently slowing how platelets clump together. Stacked on top of ibuprofen, the worry is a slightly higher chance of bruising easily, nosebleeds, or stomach upset and bleeding.
That said, this is theoretical, based mostly on how the supplement behaves in studies, not proven harm in real patients. So I wouldn't panic, but I would loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you take a blood thinner or have ulcer history.
