Ibuprofen, Oxycodone falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Danshen interacts with.

Theoretically, danshen may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Danshen has been reported to have antithrombotic effects. Animal research also suggests that taking a danshen combination formula with clopidogrel exhibits a synergistic increase in antiplatelet aggregation and prolongation of coagulation time when compared with either taken alone.

The medicine you're asking about, Combunox, combines ibuprofen (an NSAID pain reliever) with oxycodone (an opioid). The piece that matters here is the ibuprofen. Like other anti-inflammatory drugs, ibuprofen already nudges your blood toward bleeding more easily by affecting platelets and irritating the stomach lining.

Danshen has been reported to thin the blood and slow clotting too. Stacking the two together could add up, which may raise your chance of bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach bleeding (think dark or bloody stools or unusual stomach pain). To be fair, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal and animal evidence, not strong human studies. Still, because bleeding is serious, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Danshen might alter the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Preliminary clinical research in healthy males shows that the administration of danshen for 10-14 days induces intestinal CYP3A4 and increases the clearance of midazolam, a CYP3A4 substrate. The maximum concentration of midazolam was decreased by 31% to 67%, and drug levels were decreased by 27% to 80%. However, a single dose of danshen has the opposite effect, increasing maximum concentrations of midazolam by 87%.

Your Combunox combines ibuprofen with oxycodone, and it's the oxycodone half that matters here. Oxycodone is partly broken down by an enzyme called CYP3A4, and Danshen can nudge that enzyme in either direction. With regular daily use over a week or two, Danshen tends to speed that enzyme up, which could lower oxycodone levels and leave you with less pain relief than expected. Oddly, a single dose seems to do the opposite and may briefly raise oxycodone levels, which could mean more drowsiness, dizziness, or slowed breathing.

This is based on limited human research using a different drug, so the real-world effect on your medicine isn't fully nailed down. There's also a separate concern: both Danshen and the ibuprofen in this combo can affect bleeding. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.
