Ethinyl estradiol, Levonogestrel falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Nutmeg interacts with.

Theoretically, nutmeg might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Animal research suggests that intraperitoneal injections of myristicin, a constituent of nutmeg, can induce CYP1A2.

Here's the gist of it. Your birth control pill, Lybrel, contains active hormones (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) that your liver slowly breaks down. One of the enzymes involved is called CYP1A2. The concern on file is that nutmeg might speed that enzyme up, which could clear the hormones from your body a little faster and theoretically make the pill slightly less reliable at preventing pregnancy.

The good news: this is based only on animal studies using injected compounds, not real people sprinkling nutmeg on food. Normal cooking amounts almost certainly won't matter. The bigger issue with nutmeg is that large "medicinal" doses are genuinely toxic and should be avoided regardless. If you're considering nutmeg supplements, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
