Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Telmisartan
Telmisartan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Olive Oil interacts with.
Some clinical and observational research suggests that adding olive oil into the diet, especially in place of saturated fat, is associated with reduced blood pressure.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: olive oil isn't fighting with your telmisartan, it's gently nudging in the same direction. Telmisartan (Micardis) already relaxes your blood vessels to bring your numbers down, and a diet rich in olive oil, especially when it replaces butter or other saturated fats, has been linked in some studies to slightly lower blood pressure on its own.
Put them together and you may get a little extra blood pressure lowering. For most folks that's actually a good thing, but if your pressure dips too low you could feel dizzy, lightheaded, or wiped out, especially when standing up fast. Cooking and salad amounts are unlikely to cause trouble. If you're considering concentrated olive oil capsules or you notice symptoms, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Olive Oil
What is Olive Oil?
- Heart health
- Cholesterol support

- Skin and hair care
- Mild constipation
- Anti-inflammatory support
Olive oil, especially extra virgin olive oil, is a healthy fat that forms a cornerstone of the Mediterranean diet and is linked with better heart health. About Telmisartan
What Is Telmisartan Used For?
Brand name: Micardis
Telmisartan tablets — sold as Micardis and the generic telmisartan — treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Bringing blood pressure down lowers the risk of strokes and heart attacks.
Micardis and telmisartan tablets are also approved to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death from cardiovascular causes in patients 55 or older who are at high cardiovascular risk and cannot take ACE inhibitors. This use is for patients with a history of conditions such as coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, stroke, TIA (mini-stroke), or high-risk diabetes with signs of organ damage.

Telmisartan Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Telmisartan as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Olive Oil — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
