ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Aspirin, Carisoprodol, Codeine Phosphate
Aspirin, Carisoprodol, Codeine Phosphate falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Palm Oil interacts with.
The palm olein constituent in palm oil seems to increase platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
The piece of this combination pill that matters here is the aspirin, which works as a blood thinner by keeping your platelets from clumping together. The concern with palm oil is that one of its fats (palm olein) may nudge your platelets back toward sticking together more easily. In theory, that could slightly work against the aspirin and make it a touch less effective at doing its job.
Honestly, this is a fairly soft, theoretical concern. Using palm oil the way most people do in cooking is very unlikely to cause trouble. Larger, concentrated palm-oil supplements are where I'd be more cautious. If you're taking aspirin specifically to protect your heart, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a palm-oil supplement.
