ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibrutinib
Ibrutinib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Pantethine interacts with.
Some evidence suggests that pantethine reduces platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know if you're pairing pantethine with ibrutinib (Imbruvica). Ibrutinib already carries its own bleeding risk because it affects how your platelets stick together, which is why people on it can notice easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop. Pantethine, in some early research, also seems to make platelets a little less sticky.
So the concern isn't that one changes the other's blood levels. It's that both can nudge you toward bleeding, and stacking them could add up. To be honest, this is mostly theoretical and the evidence is limited, but with a drug like ibrutinib I'd rather you check first. Talk with your pharmacist or oncologist before adding pantethine, especially around any procedures or surgery.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ibrutinib page
“Ibrutinib (Imbruvica) treats blood cancers such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and because the drug itself makes bruising and bleeding more likely, adding the wrong supplement here can carry real consequences. Most of the entries below have blood-thinning or antiplatelet activity that stacks on top of that built-in bleeding risk.”

About Pantethine
What is Pantethine?
- High cholesterol
- High triglycerides
- Heart health support
- General vitamin B5 supplementation
Pantethine is a derivative of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) that some studies suggest may modestly lower cholesterol and triglycerides.
