Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the thing to know about pairing pantethine with iloprost (Ventavis). Iloprost doesn't just open up the blood vessels in your lungs, it also makes your platelets (the cells that help blood clot) a little less sticky. Some research suggests pantethine can do the same thing, slowing platelet clumping. Stack those two together and you may bruise more easily or have a slightly higher chance of bleeding, like nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that take longer to stop.

This is a theoretical concern based on limited evidence, so don't panic. It's not a hard ban on using them together. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before adding pantethine, and watch for any unusual bruising or bleeding.

About Pantethine

What is Pantethine?

  • High cholesterol
  • High triglycerides
  • Heart health support
  • General vitamin B5 supplementation

Pantethine is a derivative of vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) that some studies suggest may modestly lower cholesterol and triglycerides. The evidence is limited and not strong enough to replace standard treatments, so talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have heart or cholesterol concerns.
