Dulaglutide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Papaya interacts with.

Concomitant use of antidiabetic drugs with fermented papaya can produce additive effects. It is unclear if other forms of papaya have the same effect.
A small low-quality clinical study in patients with type 2 diabetes who are taking glibenclamide shows that taking a fermented papaya preparation 3 grams daily for 2 months decreases fasting and postprandial blood glucose levels when compared to baseline. Additionally, of the 25 patients in the study, 9 required a reduction in glibenclamide dose.

Here's the gist: papaya, especially a fermented papaya preparation, may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. When you stack that on top of Trulicity (dulaglutide), which is already working to bring your sugar down, the two can add together. In a small, lower-quality study, some people on a different diabetes pill actually needed their dose lowered. So the realistic concern with dulaglutide is your blood sugar dropping a bit more than expected.

Watch for signs of low sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy, particularly if you're also on insulin or a sulfonylurea. Keep in mind this is based on weak evidence, and a few slices of fresh papaya as food are unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated or fermented papaya supplements are the real question. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding them, and don't change your Trulicity on your own.

Papaya is a tropical fruit that is nutritious and generally safe to eat as food, and it contains an enzyme called papain used as a digestive aid and meat tenderizer. Papaya leaf extract is being studied for raising platelet counts in dengue fever, but most other supplement uses have limited human evidence. What Is Dulaglutide Injection Used For?

Brand name: Trulicity

Trulicity (dulaglutide) injection is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults and children 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is not for type 1 diabetes.

Trulicity is also used in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors to lower the risk of major heart events — specifically cardiovascular death, non-fatal heart attack, or non-fatal stroke.
