ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Hydrocodone/Chlorpheniramine
Hydrocodone/Chlorpheniramine falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Phosphatidylserine interacts with.
Phosphatidylserine is thought to increase acetylcholine levels, which could theoretically interfere with the activity of anticholinergic agents.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for your Tussionex (hydrocodone with chlorpheniramine). The chlorpheniramine part is an antihistamine that works partly by blocking acetylcholine, a brain and body signaling chemical. Phosphatidylserine is thought to do the opposite, nudging acetylcholine levels up a bit. In theory, that could slightly blunt the antihistamine side of your cough medicine, so the drying and sedating effects might feel a touch weaker.
Keep in mind this is theoretical and based on weak evidence, so most people won't notice anything. It doesn't change how the hydrocodone (the opioid cough suppressant) works. If you take both regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things. Don't change your medication on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Hydrocodone/Chlorpheniramine page
“Tussionex (hydrocodone with chlorpheniramine) pairs an opioid with a sedating antihistamine, so anything that deepens drowsiness or slows breathing is a genuine hazard, and 78 of the 258 supplements on file do exactly that. Alcohol in any form tops that group, and kava carries a major rating for the same reason.”

About Phosphatidylserine
What is Phosphatidylserine?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Age-related cognitive decline
- Attention and focus (ADHD)
- Mental performance under stress
- Exercise recovery
Phosphatidylserine is a natural fat-like compound found in cell membranes, especially in the brain, and it is sold mainly to support memory and thinking. Some research suggests possible benefits for age-related memory problems, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. It is generally well tolerated, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
