Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea diabetes medicine, and its whole job is to push your blood sugar down by helping your body release more insulin. The concern here is simple: animal studies hint that rutin can also lower blood sugar, so stacking the two together could, in theory, drop your levels a little too far.

If that happened, you might notice the usual signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia): shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or feeling suddenly hungry or confused. I'll be honest with you, though, this interaction rests on lab and animal data only, so it's far from proven in people. Still, since gliclazide already works hard on its own, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding rutin, and keep checking your readings as usual.

What is Rutin?
