Fenoldopam falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Sage interacts with.

Theoretically, sage might increase or decrease the effects of antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research suggests that common sage (Salvia officinalis) can cause prolonged blood pressure reduction. However, clinical research suggests that Spanish sage (Salvia lavandulaefolia) can increase blood pressure in some people with hypertension. Until more is known, use with caution.

Here's the situation with sage and fenoldopam. Fenoldopam is a fast-acting blood pressure drug given through an IV in the hospital to bring down severely high blood pressure. It isn't a pill you take at home, so this combo really only matters in a monitored setting where your team is already watching your numbers closely.

The concern on file is purely theoretical and comes from animal and lab studies, not from people. Some sage may lower blood pressure further, while another type may nudge it up. Either way, the worry is an unpredictable effect on your pressure, which could mean too-low readings (dizziness, fast heartbeat) or less control than expected. Honestly, the evidence here is thin, but it's always worth mentioning any sage supplements to your doctor or pharmacist.

Sage is a common kitchen herb that is generally safe in food amounts and is traditionally used for sore throats, digestion, sweating, and memory. Some early research is encouraging for sore throat and menopausal hot flashes, but most uses are not well proven. Concentrated extracts and the essential oil should be used carefully because high doses contain a compound called thujone, which can be harmful.
