ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Nintedanib Esylate
Nintedanib Esylate falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Sea Buckthorn interacts with.
Clinical research suggests that sea buckthorn fruit extracts can inhibit platelet aggregation and adhesion to collagen and fibrinogen.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about Ofev (nintedanib): on its own it can raise your risk of bleeding and bruising. That's a known side effect of the drug itself. Sea buckthorn enters the picture because lab and early clinical research suggests its berry extracts may make platelets (the cells that help your blood clot) a little less sticky.
Stack those two together and you could, in theory, see more bleeding-type problems, things like easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or longer bleeding from small cuts. This concern is mostly theoretical and rated as possible, not certain, and small culinary amounts of the berry are far less likely to matter than concentrated supplement capsules or oils. Please don't stop either one, but do check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a sea buckthorn supplement.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Nintedanib Esylate page
“You take Ofev (nintedanib) to slow lung scarring, and this page deserves a careful read before any supplement joins it. Of the 285 ingredients here, the biggest cluster, over 200, can add to bleeding risk, a real concern since nintedanib itself can make you bleed more easily.”
