The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Sea Moss and Dobutamine in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Sea Moss and Dobutamine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Dobutamine and Sea Moss in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Dobutamine

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Dobutamine is filed under a single classification — oral drugs. Sea Moss has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being amiodarone (cordarone) (moderate), antithyroid drugs (moderate) and thyroid hormone (moderate) — and none of Dobutamine’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

Keep it in perspective

What to actually watch for

What Sea Moss Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Dobutamine. It is the side-effect record for Sea Moss on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Sea Moss, this list is the first place to look.

  • Constipation / Diarrhea Additional detail

“Orally, see moss has been reported to cause constipation and diarrhea in one observational study.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Sea Moss — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Dobutamine’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Dobutamine column appears here.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Dobutamine

This page covers Sea Moss only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Dobutamine page lists 17 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.

The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Coffee Charcoal (moderate), European Mandrake (moderate), Glucomannan (moderate) and Guar Gum (moderate).

By severity: 1 major · 7 moderate · 9 minor.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Dobutamine page

“Activated charcoal is the one entry here I'd treat as a genuine hazard alongside dobutamine (Dobutrex), a hospital medicine given by IV drip to strengthen a struggling heart. Charcoal binds many drugs and can cut their levels even when the drug isn't taken by mouth, and it's the only major-rated interaction of the 17 on this page.”

About Sea Moss

What is Sea Moss?

Sea Moss
  • Source of iodine and minerals
  • Thyroid support
  • Respiratory issues and cough
  • Digestive support
  • Skin and hair health
  • General immune and antioxidant support

Sea moss is a type of red seaweed that is naturally rich in iodine and several minerals, and it is popular as a 'whole-food' supplement. Strong human evidence for most of its health claims is lacking, and its high and variable iodine content can be a real concern, especially for people with thyroid problems. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it, particularly if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a thyroid condition.

Chondrus crispus · Gigartinaceae · Whole dried seaweed (thallus) · Gel, dried raw seaweed, capsules, powder, gummies, drinks, skin products

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Sea Moss is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Sea Moss record says about it on its own.

Sea Moss: dosing

There is no established, standardized dose for sea moss. Iodine content varies widely between products, which makes consistent dosing difficult and increases the risk of getting too much.If you choose to use it, follow the directions on the product label and start low.

About Dobutamine

What Is Dobutamine Used For?

Brand name: Dobutrex

Dobutamine injection is used when the heart suddenly loses its ability to pump blood effectively — a condition called cardiac decompensation. This can happen because of organic heart disease or as a result of heart surgery. It is given intravenously (through an IV) in a hospital or clinical setting to provide short-term inotropic support, meaning it helps the heart muscle contract more strongly.

Clinical trial experience with intravenous dobutamine extends only up to 48 hours of use. Dobutamine has not been shown to be safe or effective for long-term treatment of heart failure, and long-term use of similar drugs has been linked to increased risk of hospitalization and death.

Most-Reported Side Effects for Dobutamine

From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (4,905 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.

Multiple organ dysfunction syndrome 449 reports
