Here's the simple version: senna and casanthranol are both stimulant laxatives. They work in very similar ways, getting the muscles of your colon to squeeze and pull water into the bowel. So when you take them together, you're basically doubling up on the same job, and that can push things too far.

The main worry isn't a hidden chemical reaction. It's that two stimulant laxatives at once can cause too much watery stool, leaving you with cramping, dehydration, and low electrolytes like potassium. That can leave you feeling weak, dizzy, or give you muscle cramps or an irregular heartbeat in more serious cases. This is a theoretical concern based on how these drugs act, not strong studies, but it makes sense to avoid stacking them. Please check with your pharmacist before using both.
