Here's the thing to know: casanthranol and jalap are both stimulant laxatives, meaning they each work by irritating the gut and pushing it to contract and empty. So this isn't a case of one blocking or speeding up the other in your liver. Instead, you're basically doubling up on the same forceful action.

When you stack two stimulant laxatives together, the worry is too much of a good thing: heavy diarrhea, belly cramping, and most importantly losing too much fluid and electrolytes like potassium. That can leave you dehydrated, weak, dizzy, or with an irregular heartbeat. This concern is based on how these products work (theoretical pharmacology) rather than lots of case reports, but the overlap is real. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What is Jalap?

Jalap is a powerful traditional laxative made from the root of a Mexican morning-glory plant. It is rarely used today because it can cause violent diarrhea, cramping, and dehydration, and safer laxatives are available. It is not recommended for routine self-treatment, and pregnant or breastfeeding people should avoid it.
