Bendroflumethiazide, Potassium falls under DIURETIC DRUGS — the group Jalap interacts with.

Jalap has diuretic effects. Overuse of jalap might compound diuretic-induced potassium loss. There is some concern that people taking jalap along with potassium depleting diuretics might have an increased risk for hypokalemia.
Some diuretics that can deplete potassium include chlorothiazide (Diuril), chlorthalidone (Thalitone), furosemide (Lasix), hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, Hydrodiuril, Microzide), and others.

Your tablet pairs bendroflumethiazide, a water pill, with extra potassium because thiazide diuretics tend to flush potassium out of your body. The whole point of the added potassium is to help keep that level from dropping too low. Now bring in jalap, which is a harsh laxative that causes heavy diarrhea, and you have a second way to lose potassium and fluids at the same time.

The worry here is mainly theoretical, based on how both work rather than strong studies. Still, stacking them could leave you low on potassium, which can show up as muscle weakness, cramps, an irregular heartbeat, or feeling lightheaded from dehydration. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using jalap.

Jalap is a powerful traditional laxative made from the root of a Mexican morning-glory plant.
