Here's the thing to understand about combining these two. Dialose Plus already contains casanthranol, which is itself a stimulant laxative that prods your bowel into action, plus docusate to soften the stool. Jalap is a much harsher stimulant laxative from the same family. So you're not really getting a new chemical interaction here, you're stacking two bowel stimulants on top of each other.

When you double up like this, the worry is too much of a good thing: heavy, watery diarrhea, belly cramping, and the loss of fluids and key electrolytes like potassium. That can leave you feeling weak, dizzy, or with an irregular heartbeat, especially in older folks. This concern is based on how these laxatives work rather than firm studies, but it's a sensible one. Jalap is a powerful traditional laxative made from the root of a Mexican morning-glory plant.
