Here's the simple version: both jalap and sennosides (Senokot) are stimulant laxatives. They each work by irritating and revving up your intestines to force a bowel movement. So when you take them together, you're essentially pushing the same pedal twice. That can lead to much harsher results, think violent diarrhea, painful cramping, and watery, frequent stools.

The real concern isn't just the discomfort. When you lose that much fluid quickly, you also lose important salts like potassium and sodium. That can leave you dehydrated, weak, dizzy, or with an irregular heartbeat. This warning is based on how these laxatives work rather than hard studies, but the logic is solid. Please don't combine them without checking with your pharmacist or doctor first.
