Benazepril, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under DIURETIC DRUGS — the group Jalap interacts with.

Jalap has diuretic effects. Overuse of jalap might compound diuretic-induced potassium loss. There is some concern that people taking jalap along with potassium depleting diuretics might have an increased risk for hypokalemia.
Some diuretics that can deplete potassium include chlorothiazide (Diuril), chlorthalidone (Thalitone), furosemide (Lasix), hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ, Hydrodiuril, Microzide), and others.

Here's the thing about your Lotensin HCT: the hydrochlorothiazide part is a 'water pill' that already nudges your body to lose potassium through your urine. Jalap is a harsh stimulant laxative that causes heavy diarrhea, and big fluid losses from your gut can also drag potassium out. Stack the two and you could end up low on potassium, which can show up as muscle cramps, weakness, fatigue, or an irregular or fluttering heartbeat.

I'll be honest, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on how these things work, not hard studies. Still, jalap is rough stuff and rarely recommended at all. If you're thinking about using it, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first, especially since they can keep an eye on your potassium.
