Here's the thing to keep in mind: your Dialose Plus already contains casanthranol, which is itself a stimulant laxative (the docusate part just softens stool). Alder buckthorn is also a stimulant laxative, so taking both at once is really doubling up on the same kind of effect. Both rely on gut bacteria to activate them, and both push the colon to contract harder and hold more water in the bowel.

Stacking two stimulant laxatives can lead to too much of a good thing, meaning cramping, watery diarrhea, and loss of fluids and important electrolytes like potassium. This concern is based on how these products work rather than on hard studies, but it's a sensible worry. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
