In vitro, sorrel has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation. However, this effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the situation with sorrel and Tirofiban. Tirofiban is a strong IV blood thinner (an antiplatelet drug) given in the hospital, usually during heart procedures or for certain types of chest pain. It works by stopping your platelets from clumping together to form clots. In lab dishes, sorrel has also shown a mild ability to slow platelet clumping. So on paper, the two could add up and nudge your bleeding risk a little higher, meaning easier bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that's slower to stop.

That said, I want you to keep this in perspective. This effect has only been seen in test-tube studies, never confirmed in real people, and culinary amounts of sorrel are very unlikely to matter. Since Tirofiban is hospital-managed, your care team is already watching you closely. Just mention any sorrel supplements to your doctor or pharmacist.

Tirofiban hydrochloride injection — available as Aggrastat and under the generic names Tirofiban and Tirofiban Hydrochloride — is used intravenously in people with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS), a type of unstable heart condition where blood flow to the heart is dangerously reduced.

The goal is to lower the combined risk of death, heart attack (myocardial infarction), or persistent ischemia (insufficient blood flow to the heart) that may require a repeat cardiac procedure.
