Aspirin, Codeine Phosphate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Syrian Rue interacts with.

Theoretically, Syrian rue might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Syrian rue contains beta-carboline alkaloids, including harmine, harmaline, harmalol, harmol, and harmane. In vitro research suggests that these beta-carboline alkaloids can inhibit CYP2D6 enzymes.

Here's the twist with this combo: the codeine part of your medicine is what we call a prodrug. It doesn't do much on its own. Your body uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to turn codeine into morphine, which is what actually relieves pain. Syrian Rue's harmala compounds appear to block that same enzyme (so far this is only seen in lab studies, not in people).

So in practice, slowing that conversion could mean less morphine forms and weaker pain relief, not more. The flip side is that blocked codeine can build up and cause its own issues. Because this is theoretical and Syrian Rue carries real toxicity risks of its own, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.
