Alteplase, tPA falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Tarragon interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that tarragon extract inhibits platelet aggregation and adhesion. Theoretically, tarragon might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing about alteplase (tPA): it's a powerful clot-busting drug given in the hospital through an IV for emergencies like a stroke, heart attack, or a serious lung clot. Because it actively breaks down clots, bleeding is already its main risk, and your medical team watches you closely while you get it.

On paper, tarragon might add to that bleeding risk, since lab studies (in test tubes, not people) hint that tarragon extract can make platelets less sticky. But this is very weak, theoretical evidence, and alteplase is a one-time hospital treatment, not something you manage at home. Cooking with tarragon is not a concern here. If you take concentrated tarragon supplements or its essential oil, mention it to your doctor or pharmacist so they have the full picture.
