Ibrutinib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Tarragon interacts with.

Evidence from in vitro research suggests that tarragon extract inhibits platelet aggregation and adhesion. Theoretically, tarragon might increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs. Some anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.

Here's the thing to know about ibrutinib (Imbruvica): it already raises your bleeding risk on its own. It blocks a signal that platelets need to clump together and seal off small injuries, which is why bruising, nosebleeds, and bleeding gums are common with it. So even though ibrutinib isn't a traditional blood thinner, it acts a bit like one.

Lab studies hint that tarragon extract may also slow platelets down. Stacking two things that loosen clotting could, in theory, add up to easier bruising or bleeding. This is only test-tube evidence, so it's far from proven, and the sprinkle of tarragon in your cooking is very unlikely to matter. Concentrated extracts or tarragon oil are the bigger question. Before adding any tarragon supplement, please check with your oncology team or pharmacist.

What Is Ibrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Imbruvica

Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is used in adults to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), including cases with a specific genetic change called 17p deletion. It is also used in adults to treat Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare type of slow-growing blood cancer.

Imbruvica is also approved for adults and children aged 1 year and older with chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) — a serious immune complication that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant — when at least one prior treatment has not worked.
