Here's the simple version: Levemir (insulin detemir) is a long-acting insulin that lowers your blood sugar throughout the day. Terminalia chebula (haritaki) may have its own mild blood-sugar-lowering effect. So if you take them together, the two could add up and push your sugar down too far.

I'll be honest about the evidence here, though. This concern comes mostly from animal studies, so it's theoretical and not proven in people. Still, it's worth watching for signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia): shakiness, sweating, a fast heartbeat, confusion, or feeling lightheaded. If you'd like to try haritaki, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your glucose readings. Don't change your insulin dose on your own.

What Is Insulin Detemir (rDNA Origin) Injection Used For?

Brand name: Levemir

Levemir (insulin detemir) is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and children with type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes. It is a basal insulin, meaning it works around the clock to keep background blood sugar levels steady.

Levemir is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous buildup of acids in the blood that requires a different type of insulin).
