Here's the gist: glyburide already does a strong job of pushing your blood sugar down by nudging your pancreas to release more insulin. Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) may have its own mild blood-sugar-lowering effect, so stacking the two together could, in theory, drop your sugar a little too far. If that happens, you might feel shaky, sweaty, dizzy, irritable, or unusually hungry, the classic signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

I want to be honest about the evidence here, though. This concern comes mostly from animal studies, so it's theoretical, not something proven in people. That doesn't mean ignore it. If you'd like to try this supplement, check your sugars more closely at first and talk with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Early laboratory and small human studies suggest possible antioxidant and digestive effects, but high-quality evidence in people is limited. About Glyburide

What Is Glyburide Used For?

Brand names: Diabeta, Micronase, Glynase, Glycron, Micronized, Glynase PresTab, Albert Glyburide

Glyburide tablets are used alongside diet and exercise to help control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where the body produces dangerous levels of acids called ketones).

Glyburide may be used alone or combined with metformin when metformin alone is not enough. It can also be used to help transition patients who are moving from insulin or other diabetes pills to a new regimen, under a doctor's guidance.
