Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. The concern isn't really about how your body breaks down Fostamatinib (Tavalisse) or about the drug's blood levels changing. It's a contamination worry. Thymus extract is made from raw cow thymus glands, so there's a real chance it could carry germs. Fostamatinib works by quieting down part of your immune system to protect your platelets, and that same calming effect can leave you a little more open to infections.

So you'd be combining an immune-quieting medicine with an animal-tissue product that may not be sterile. This is a theoretical, possible concern, not something proven, but it's easy to avoid. If you really want to use thymus extract, only consider products certified pathogen-free, and please run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Fostamatinib Used For?

Brand name: Tavalisse

Tavalisse (fostamatinib) is used to treat thrombocytopenia — dangerously low platelet counts — in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). It is specifically for people whose platelet counts have not improved enough with at least one earlier ITP treatment.

The goal is to raise platelet counts high enough to reduce the risk of serious bleeding. If platelet counts do not respond sufficiently after 12 weeks, the medication is typically stopped.
