Tonka Bean + Mitomycin
Mitomycin brand names: Mutamycin, Mitosol, Jelmyto.
We found no known interaction between Tonka Bean and Mitomycin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Tonka Bean and Mitomycin
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Mitomycin and Tonka Bean in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Tonka Bean at all — not against Mitomycin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Mitomycin page
“Activated charcoal is the entry to know first with mitomycin (Mutamycin, Mitosol, Jelmyto), a chemotherapy drug, because charcoal binds medications and can cut the amount the body receives, and it carries this list's only major rating. A weakened dose of a cancer treatment is a real loss, so I would treat these 26 interactions with gen…”

About Tonka Bean
What is Tonka Bean?
- Flavoring in food and desserts
- Fragrance and perfume
- Cough and sore throat (traditional)
- Digestive complaints (traditional)
- Relaxation
Tonka bean comes from the seed of a South American tree and is prized for its sweet, vanilla-like aroma in perfumes and cooking. It contains coumarin, which can be toxic to the liver and is restricted in food in many countries, so it is not recommended as a health supplement. There is no reliable evidence that it treats any medical condition.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Tonka Bean is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Tonka Bean record says about it on its own.
Tonka Bean: dosing
There is no established safe or effective medicinal dose for tonka bean, and it is not recommended as a supplement. In cooking, chefs use only a tiny shaving of the bean because of its strong flavor and coumarin content. If you come across a product containing tonka bean, follow the product label and keep amounts very small.

About Mitomycin
What Is Mitomycin Used For?
Brand names: Mutamycin, Mitosol, Jelmyto
Mitomycin (and its brand Mutamycin) is used intravenously in combination with other chemotherapy drugs to treat disseminated adenocarcinoma (a type of cancer that has spread) of the stomach or pancreas, when other treatments have not worked. It is not intended to replace surgery or radiation therapy.
Mitomycin is also the active ingredient in other products for different uses: Jelmyto treats low-grade upper tract urothelial cancer (cancer of the upper urinary tract); Zusduri treats recurrent low-grade intermediate-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer; and Mitosol is used as a surgical aid during certain glaucoma eye surgery. These are separate products with distinct indications and are not interchangeable with the intravenous injection form.
