Here's the basic idea with Trichopus zeylanicus and cisplatin. This herb has been studied as a possible immune booster, and one of cisplatin's known effects is that it can lower your immune system and your blood counts as part of how chemo works. So in theory, an herb that revs up immune activity could push against what your treatment is trying to do. The concern here is that the herb might blunt some of the medication's intended effect.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It comes only from lab and animal studies, not from people, so it's really more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, cancer treatment is not something to gamble with. Please don't start this supplement while on cisplatin without first running it by your oncologist or pharmacist.

About Cisplatin Injection

What Is Cisplatin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Platinol-AQ

Cisplatin Injection is used to treat three types of cancer. For metastatic testicular tumors and metastatic ovarian tumors, it is used as part of combination chemotherapy — alongside other approved cancer medicines — in patients who have already had surgery and/or radiation therapy. For metastatic ovarian tumors, it can also be used alone as a second-line treatment when standard chemotherapy has stopped working and cisplatin has not been tried before.

For advanced bladder cancer (specifically transitional cell bladder cancer) that can no longer be treated with surgery or radiation, Cisplatin Injection is used as a single agent.
