Here's the honest picture: the interaction we have on file is really about immunosuppressant medications, the kind used after a transplant or for autoimmune conditions. Lumateperone (Caplyta) isn't one of those. It's an atypical antipsychotic that works on brain chemicals like dopamine and serotonin, so the immune-related concern listed here doesn't really apply to how Caplyta works in your body.

On top of that, the evidence for Trichopus zeylanicus affecting the immune system comes only from test-tube and animal studies, not people, so it's very preliminary. I wouldn't expect a meaningful, predictable interaction with lumateperone. Still, since human safety data on this herb is thin, please run it past your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

What Is Lumateperone Used For?

Brand name: Caplyta

Caplyta (lumateperone) is approved for adults with schizophrenia, depressive episodes associated with bipolar I or II disorder (bipolar depression), and as an add-on treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD).

For bipolar depression, Caplyta can be used on its own or alongside lithium or valproate. For MDD, Caplyta is used together with an antidepressant — not on its own as a standalone antidepressant.
