Here's the practical picture: Levemir (insulin detemir) lowers your blood sugar, and so does losing weight and eating fewer carbs on the WW program. When you stack those two together, your blood sugar can dip lower than you expect. This isn't a chemical clash, the diet has no active ingredient that changes how insulin works. It's simply that as you eat lighter, more filling meals and lose some weight, your body often needs less insulin than before.

If your dose stays the same while your eating changes, you could see signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia): shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or a fast heartbeat. The studies behind this were modest, but it's a real and manageable concern. Don't change your insulin on your own. Keep checking your sugars and let your doctor or pharmacist know you're starting WW so they can adjust your dose if needed.

Levemir (insulin detemir) is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and children with type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes. It is a basal insulin, meaning it works around the clock to keep background blood sugar levels steady.

Levemir is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous buildup of acids in the blood that requires a different type of insulin).
