Theoretically, xanthan gum can alter the absorption of oral drugs due to its fiber qualities. Xanthan gum slows gastric emptying and has been used to control the release of drugs in tablet formulations. To avoid any alterations in drug absorption, xanthan gum should be taken 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's something worth knowing about this pairing. Vincristine is almost always given as an IV injection in a clinic, not as a pill you swallow. Since this xanthan gum concern is about oral drugs (the gel slowing how fast tablets get absorbed from your gut), it really wouldn't apply to vincristine given into a vein. So in practice, there isn't a meaningful overlap here.

This interaction note is theoretical and rated minor to begin with, based on how fiber behaves rather than real cases. Vincristine Sulfate Injection is approved to treat acute leukemia. It is also used as part of combination chemotherapy regimens for Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphomas, rhabdomyosarcoma (a soft-tissue cancer), neuroblastoma (a cancer of nerve tissue), and Wilms' tumor (a kidney cancer in children).

Because it works best alongside other cancer medicines, vincristine is almost always given as part of a multi-drug treatment plan rather than on its own.
