Lorazepam falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Zizyphus interacts with.

Theoretically, zizyphus might cause additive sedative effects when taken with CNS depressants.
Some animal research has found that various parts of zizyphus have sedative effects. However, other animal research shows that zizyphus plant extract does not alter sleep parameters when used in combination with pentobarbital.

Here's the simple version: Lorazepam (Ativan) is a calming medicine that slows down activity in your brain. Zizyphus, or jujube, is traditionally used to help with sleep and relaxation, and some of its plant compounds may have a mild sedative effect of their own. So the concern is stacking two calming things on top of each other. In theory, you could feel extra drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or unsteady, which can raise the risk of falls.

I'll be honest with you though: this is mostly a theoretical worry based on animal studies, and even those results are mixed. Eating jujube as a food is unlikely to be a problem. If you're using a concentrated supplement, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up first so they can keep an eye on how you feel.

The fruit is a nutritious food, but human evidence for its medicinal benefits is limited and mostly preliminary. About Lorazepam

What Is Lorazepam Used For?

Brand name: Ativan

Lorazepam tablets (Ativan and generic) and the oral solution are used to manage anxiety disorders or for short-term relief of anxiety symptoms, including anxiety that comes with depressive symptoms. Loreev XR, an extended-release capsule, is specifically indicated for adults with anxiety disorders who are already stable on lorazepam tablets taken three times daily.

Ativan and generic lorazepam injections are used in two additional situations: treating status epilepticus (a medical emergency involving prolonged or repeated seizures) and as a pre-surgery medication in adults to produce sedation, ease anxiety, and reduce memory of events on the day of surgery.
