100 Billion Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking 100 Billion Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of 100 Billion Probiotic by CHK Nutrition
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product is a blend of 14 ingredients centered on live probiotic bacteria—friendly microorganisms that live in your gut. The formula includes multiple Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains, plus larch arabinogalactan (a type of fiber) and fructooligosaccharides (prebiotic compounds that feed beneficial bacteria).
The rest is inactive ingredients: the vegetarian capsule itself, plus cellulose, silica, magnesium stearate, and calcium silicate as fillers and flow agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for these probiotics is mixed and often limited. Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections. For most other uses listed in our data—allergic rhinitis, asthma, anxiety, cognitive decline—the evidence we hold rates them as insufficient to say whether they work.
Larch arabinogalactan and fructooligosaccharides also have insufficient evidence for their listed uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
The probiotic strains in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The most common side effects from taking probiotics are mild and gastrointestinal: bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and occasionally diarrhea or burping.
These are uncommon but possible. There is a rare medical concern: because these are live organisms, there have been isolated case reports of serious infections (bacteremia, sepsis) in critically ill patients or those with weakened immune systems.
For pregnancy, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, and Bifidobacterium bifidum are rated possibly safe; data for the other strains or for breastfeeding are not on file. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, seriously ill, or immune-compromised, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before use.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist before taking this product if you use antibiotic drugs—the live bacteria may be killed if you take them together, reducing the probiotic's benefit. If you take immunosuppressant medications (such as cyclosporine, tacrolimus, or azathioprine after a transplant), ask your doctor, because larch arabinogalactan in this blend may interfere with how those drugs work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic that may help with certain digestive and gut conditions if the evidence pans out for your situation. If you take antibiotics, you'll want to separate them from this product by a few hours—ask your pharmacist for the exact timing.
If you take immunosuppressant medications or are very ill, check with your doctor first. For most healthy people, it's generally well tolerated, though some bloating or gas at the start is common.

100 Billion Probiotic by CHK Nutrition Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
CHK Nutrition's 100 Billion Probiotic contains several bacterial strains that interact with antibiotics.
The most serious concern is Moderate: five of the checked probiotic strains—Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and Lactobacillus bulgaricus—may lose effectiveness if taken at the same time as antibiotic drugs, because antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the product.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Larch arabinogalactan, another ingredient, may theoretically interfere with immunosuppressants (drugs that weaken the immune system on purpose, such as those taken after organ transplant) due to immune-stimulating effects. This is also rated Moderate.
Several ingredients we could not check for interactions include Bifidobacterium lactis BI-04, Bifidobacterium infantis Bi-26, Lactococcus lactis Ll-23, Lactobacillus casei Lc-11, Lactobacillus rhamnosus Lr-32, Lactobacillus salivarius Ls-33, and Lactobacillus plantarum Lp-115. Altogether, these interactions span 298 individual medications.
