The evidence for this blend varies by condition. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis.
Bifidobacterium bifidum is possibly effective for IBS and respiratory tract infections. For most other conditions in the data — from allergic rhinitis and anxiety to asthma and cognitive decline — the evidence is insufficient to rate these strains.
Streptococcus thermophilus similarly shows insufficient evidence for the conditions listed (antibiotic-associated diarrhea, bacterial vaginosis, fatty liver disease, constipation, diabetes, and kidney disease related to diabetes). How safe is it?

These probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The live organisms can occasionally cause mild gastrointestinal side effects — bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea have been reported, though such events are uncommon.
In rare cases, especially in critically ill or severely immunocompromised patients (including preterm infants), the probiotic bacteria themselves can cause serious infections like bacteremia or sepsis; however, these cases are unusual and occur mainly in people with weakened immune systems or indwelling catheters. For pregnancy, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, and Streptococcus thermophilus are rated possibly safe.
Lactobacillus gasseri has no pregnancy/lactation rating on file. If you're pregnant or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist — while these strains are generally considered low risk, safety data are limited.

Lactobacillus acidophilus UALa-01
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium bifidum UABb-10
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
Since B. bifidum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. bifidum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Bifidobacterium longum UABl-14
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
